A while back I was invited to try the new lunch menu of SUE Food with MiesMedia. Most well-known of the sweets without refined sugar which you can buy at many coffee bars all over the Netherlands. But this new venue at the Karel Doormanstraat also has a lot of delicious lunch options, coffees, juices, and more.
The concept of SUE was started by Kim ‘Sue’ Palm who was looking for healthy alternatives to her favourite sweets. She started experimenting in her kitchen to make sweets which were already loved by friends and family and so she started to see if different restaurants or cafes in Rotterdam wanted to try them. So she started with selling points in Rotterdam and after a few months, she was able to quit her full-time job and focus 100% on SUE.
And at the beginning of 2016, she was able to open up her own lunchroom at the Karel Doormanstraat in Rotterdam.
The lunchroom is a few minutes walk from the Central Station near the Lijnbaan in Rotterdam. At Karel Doormanstraat 372-374 you can find them. In the store, you can buy the sweets and coffee on the go or take a nice seat and enjoy the minimalist interior or when the sun finally shines a nice seat on the terrace.
At the event organised by SUE and Miesmedia we could try different things from the menu like the vegan pork belly sandwich, french toast with gluten-free bread and more. The think what really stood out for me was that the gluten-free bread was really tasty, so far I haven’t tried a gluten-free bread option which I actually liked. Hope you guys enjoy the photos and let me know what you think about this place!
