I love my waffles fresh, but luckily if you have old waffles laying around you can still make good use of them using them for something like french toast. Instead of old bread, you can make use basically anything from old doughnuts to of course waffles using this batter to make the dish so much more interesting. And best of all you won’t be wasting or throwing away perfectly good food. Happy Waffle Wednesday!
Leftover Waffles French Toast
Leftover waffles (But of course you can make basic waffles also)
3 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. dairy butter
Mix together the egg, milk, sugar & cinnamon in a deep bowl where you can fit in several waffles. Soak them for a few minutes into the batter. Heat up a pan and melt in the butter, when the butter just starts to brown add in the waffles. Add some extra cinnamon and sugar on top while baking to caramelise the waffle a little better. Bake the waffles on each side for about 3 minutes until brown and crisp. Keep them warm while baking the rest in a preheated oven at around 70 degrees Celcius.
Serve the waffles with extra sugar and cinnamon on top and serve with fresh fruit, low-fat quark or anything you prefer. Enjoy!
