One of our favorite recipes are waffles and we love to experiment with new ingredients: bacon, Nutella, Oreo cookies, savory, salty, etc. for Desmond you can’t make it crazy enough ;). That’s why we introduce to you: hold-your-waffle-wednesday* and we will post a new waffle recipe every week on (of course) Wednesday. We kick off with a simple variant with contains a lot of proteins thanks to the quark and why powder. A perfect addition to your diet if you sport a lot, but also want to eat a healthy waffle.
*Hold your waffle is a Dutch saying which basically means: shut up!
Protein waffles with whey powder
For 8 waffles
100 gram flower
20 gram whey powder (vanilla or another flavor)
100 gram low-fat quark
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. tartaric acid
1 tbsp. honey
Start mixing together the quark, egg, honey and salt in a bowl. In another bowl mix the whey powder, flower, baking soda & tartaric acid together. When mixed add together with the quark mixture and whisk together. Let the dough rest for a few minutes and start heating up the waffle iron. When it reaches the right temperature add in about a tablespoon of dough for one waffle. Bake until you are out of dough. When done garnish a plate and add some quark on top or honey or maybe even some fruit depending on what you like. Bon appetit!
